Winter Break

December is here and it's time for me to take a little seasonal break from the Karika Nova blog. I'll be working on some fab new projects and will be back in January with news of upcoming releases in the new year - including an exciting brand new collection Amelia. Festive Friday 2020

Ooh it’s that time again, it’s Festive Friday. It’s a day for all us greeting card fans to send our Christmas post to create a great first wave of beautiful cards arriving in early December. 2020 has been a challenging year that has seen us isolated from family, friends and work colleagues so this might be Festive Friday's most important year to inspire a Christmas card-sending mood for us to be in touch with loved ones.

Following on from last year's lovely dove of peace and joy from the Christmas Luminaire collection created for Katie Phythian Design, this year I've chosen my favourite card from the Christmas Tiger Lily collection designed for Portfolio Cards. This little winter hare will soon be hopping around the world spreading some Christmas cheer.

Luminaire Christmas AW20

With December arriving soon and Festive Friday around the corner it's a good time to share a few pics of the additions to the Christmas Luminaire collection I created for Katie Phythian Design. Following on from last years lovelies we have some new illustrations inspired by Katie's travels and home in France including snowy scenes, festive stockings, presents and baubles. The Luminaire design style picks up on the traditional card making techniques of scrapbooking and paper cutting I love. Each card is hand finished in the UK with beautiful iridescent crystals and packed with a matching envelope. 

The Luminaire cards are only available from local independent card & gift shops. Although the shops are closed at the moment please do check in with your local as many are offering pick ups and deliveries through this difficult time. As the lovely people at Just a Card say, even the smallest purchase makes a big difference to a small business.

Penny Kennedy Christmas AW20

I'm spreading a little more festive cheer on the Karika Nova blog today with this year's Christmas gift packaging range I designed for Penny Kennedy. Following on from last year's best seller, the AW20 Festive Garland collection features a contemporary Christmas tree, yuletide foliage and antique baubles in traditional Christmas colours with beautiful gold foiling. The collection includes a large, shopper and medium gift bags plus a roll wrap & tag pack. Many might be closed in lockdown but please do check in with your local shop as everyone is working very hard so we can collect or receive deliveries and making sure we can all have a special Christmas this year.

Tiger Lily Christmas

Well it's a little later than I planned to talk about these exciting festive additions to the Tiger Lily collection designed for Portfolio Cards. In true 2020 style I'm here minutes before a lockdown. We've learnt from the first lockdown it's important that we support our shops at this time but also that the written word, inside a thoughtful greeting card can make the all difference to ensure our friends, family and loved ones have that connection in these difficult times. Plans and diaries have gone out the window this year but I'm hoping that we can still look forward to a lovely (if a little cosier) Christmas in December.

Thinking of You Week 2020

Hello, it's my first week back to the blog in what feels like an age. 2020 what a year!
I’m very happy to return at this time to Thinking of You Week. I’ve taken part in this for a few years now but in the current climate of social distancing it’s never been more important to be in touch with loved ones. I’ve been writing out these lovelies I created for Katie Phythian Design, drawn with a rainbow - which is very apt considering I did them pre 2020! I loved this story Katie posted on instagram about handing out cards during lockdown and the response she received. It shows that the written word, inside a thoughtful greeting card can make the all difference to ensure our friends, family and loved ones have that connection in these strange times.

Summertime

Well had 2020 gone to plan I would now be posting with all the latest from the Progressive Greetings Live show in London. I'm pleased to hear the show is confirmed to return next year. I am already looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on the industry buzz.

As a form of lockdown continues through the Summer it unfortunately means I won't be returning to the Karika Nova blog until the autumn when my little ones are more fully back in school and nursery. In the meantime I will be continuing work on new exciting projects for 2021 -  I can't wait to share these with you. Wishing everyone the best for the Summer, keep well, see you all soon x
