Spring is Here, Bring in the New

As a yearly tradition I hope to refresh the artwork displayed on our walls at home. After a period of time I find things can get a little stale. So last years wall art has been updated with a new collection of typography inspired pieces.

Last year I inherited my Grandma's record player, we had a fab time listening to the old tunes. To celebrate I created a wall of vinyl artwork. Urban Outfitters had a great deal on album frames so I bought a few and framed some classics (some of which I picked up second hand for as little as £2!). It was also quite easy to change the images for an update throughout the year.

So this year, I'd had a thought about creating a typography curation. A few years ago I visited the Naschmarkt flea market in Vienna. I picked up a beautiful bundle of original alphabet paperworks.

I then luckily came across, in a local shop, some original 'master drawings' from the linotype archive salvaged from the font library in Broadheath, Manchester. I chose two of the hand drawn artworks featuring mine and Mr Hauck's initials. Sadly the shop has since closed and I desperately wanted to add an extra one featuring our new son's initial. After some intense googling I found one on Etsy.

I especially love the character on these pieces added by stamps, smudge marks and scribbled dates.

Once I gathered all the pieces I had them framed locally in cherry wood. I just love the result.
