Playing with Prisma

I've been having a little fun this week with the fab photo art app Prisma. It's quite addictive!

I love the diverse range of styles Prisma offers - painterly, sketchy, monochrome, illustrative & abstract. The filters take influence from prominent artist styles & popular culture e.g comic book like 'Roy' filter from Lichtenstein's art, painterly filter 'The Scream' from Edvard Munch, graphicy 'Heisenberg' filter from the drawing in Breaking Bad.

above: a photo I took of a fox cub that came to visit our garden, prisma filters: dallas, marcus d, light summer

I love the details the filters add on my fox cub photo above. The 'Dallas' filter especially emphasises the autumnal feel of the photo.

ON THE RIVER WITH PRISMA FILTERS - IMAGES EMILY HAUCK KARIKA NOVA

The Canadian geese pic above works well as the open space of the river focuses the filters on the birds themselves giving them a look of floating and stillness.

It's interesting which photos work well - its often not the ones I would have expected. The above photo was one I snapped to send with a moan about having extra guests arriving with my delivery of fruit and veg. The filters elevate it to something that could hang in a gallery with some Dutch/Flemish still life artworks!

If you haven't picked it up already, Prisma can be downloaded here. Happy filtering!
